FISH MASALA

Ingredients :
üFish - 1/2kg, cleaned and cut into pieces
üGinger paste - 1 tBsp
üGarlic paste - 1 tBsp
üOnion - 1 big, finely chopped
üGreen chilly- 1, chopped
üPowdered Cumin seeds- 1 tsp
üRed chilly powder - 1 1/2 tsp
üGaram masala - 1 tsp
üCoriander powder - 2 tBsp
üTurmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
üTomato paste - 2, medium
üCoconut milk- 1/4 cup, first pressed
üLemon juice- 1 tsp
üKasuri methi - 1 tsp
üWater - 1/2 cup
üCurry leaves
üCoriander leaves (optional)
üOil - as required
üSalt- to taste
For marination:
üRed chilly powder - 1 1/2 tsp
üTurmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
üLemon juice - 1 tBsp
üSalt - to taste
üWater - as required
Instructions :
1. Mix the ingredients for “marination ” to a smooth paste. Pour this over the fish pieces and marinate well. Keep it aside for half an hour.
2. On a hot frying pan, add required oil. Fry the pieces both sides until half cooked.
3. In a hot kadai, add the same oil used for frying. Add ginger and garlic paste. Saute well.
4. Add chopped onion.
5. Add chopped green chilly and saute until onion becomes translucent.
6. Add Powdered Cumin seeds, Red chilly powder, Garam masala, Coriander powder and Turmeric powder.
7. Add tomato paste. Mix well.
8. Add half cup water.
9. Add salt and lemon juice. Cook well
10. Add kasuri methi.
11. Add the fried fish. Cover with a lid and cook for few minutes.
12. Pour coconut milk. Stir carefully.
13. Add curry leaves and coriander leaves.
Fish masala is ready. Serve hot !!!
