Kochi style Fish Curry without coconut

Ingredients :

 Pearl spot fish (Karimeen) - 750 gram

 Shallots - handful, crushed

 Ginger- 2 small cubes, crushed

 Green chilly - 3, crushed

 Curry leaves - as required

 Tomato - 1, medium, diced

 Black pepper - 1/2 tsp, crushed

 Red chilly powder - 1 1/2 tbsp

 Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp

 Water - 1 1/2 cup

 Coconut oil - 2 tbsp

 Salt- to taste

 

 

Instructions :

1. In a hot kadai, add coconut oil. When hot, add crushed shallots, ginger,green chillies and curry leaves.

2. Saute well until brown.

3. Add crushed black pepper. Saute.

4. Add red chilly powder and turmeric powder. Saute well.

5. Add the tomatoes and cook until it becomes soft.

6. Add water and let it boil.

7. Add salt to taste.

8. Add cleaned fish.

9. Cover with a lid and let it cook in a low heat. Do not stir with a spoon. Instead , in between open occasionally and and rotate the pot. Cook until the oil clears on the top.

 

SERVE HOT !!!!
